Buitenlandse contacten
In de afgelopen jaren is Groot Salland steeds meer betrokken bij internationale samenwerkingsprojecten. Ook in het buitenland is in toenemende mate sprake van te veel, te weinig of te vuil water. Er is een duidelijke belangstelling voor Nederlandse expertise en het Nederlandse waterschapsmodel met decentraal bestuur en lokale belastingheffing. Steeds vaker wordt ook op Groot Salland een beroep gedaan om hieraan een bijdrage te leveren in de vorm van overdracht van kennis en ervaring, het ontvangen van groepen, stagiaires en dergelijke.Op deze site treft u informatie aan die gaat over de betrekkingen met het buitenland.

Het waterschap is actief in verschillende internationale samenwerkingsprojecten waarin kennis wordt uitgewisseld over universele managementproblemen van te veel, te weinig of te vies water.
Het jaar 2008 was het Internationale Jaar van de sanitatie en in de samenwerkingsprojecten is de focus meer en meer gericht op sanitatieproblemen om daarmee ook een bijdrage te leveren aan de Millennium Development Goals (MDG). In 2008 hebben wij het samenwerkingsproject in Zuid Afrika gepresenteerd en een overeenkomst gesloten voor verdere samenwerking op het gebied van sanitatie met Aqua for All, LEAF, Alterra, VNG International en het NWB fonds.

Mpumalanga province, South Africa
The International Inkomati Cooperation Programme aims to promote sustainable use of the Inkomati Basin water through improvement of sanitation issues. The programme is funded by the Royal Dutch Embassy in Pretoria, and a twinning agreement between the regional water authority Waterschap Groot Salland and Inkomati Catchment Management Agency, including the Nkomazi Local Municipality supported by the Association of the Netherlands Municipalities (VNG International) with the Zwolle and Dalfsen Municipalities. Within this programme LeAF has assisted in developing an improvement plan for sanitation for one of the schools in the region.

During the week of 12-16 October 2009, a delegation consisting of the Nkomaziand Mbombela Local Municipalities, Provincial District Municipalities, the Inkomati Catchment Management Agency, the Department of Water Affairs and the Mpumalanga Provincial Government (HumanSettlements), attended a strategie sanitation capacity building programme "lnspirationforSanitation", as part of the International Inkomati Cooperation programme in the Netherlands, in order to develop and strengthen future cooperation and collaboration projects, identify the mutual benefits of development cooperation and develop various strategies and approaches to address developmental challenges.
